Is it worth $350

Rich and I are looking to move again and found a nice basement apartment that would save us 350 a month but is it worth it?

Cons:
The kitchen doesn't have an oven
it has a mini fridge
its a basement
its like a studio
It only has one coat closet

Pros:
It has more square footage
it decreases both our commute
it's new
it will save us 350/month
no yearly contract
close to my parents
It has a fireplace to hang our stockings

That's a tough one, but I don't know if I could live without an oven. However, I could live with an extra $350 a month. Good luck deciding...

How will you cook without an oven? How long do you plan on staying there? Can you do any improvements while you live there i.e. put in an oven/ bigger fridge/ paint if you wanted?

Hmm the saving money part and that it is new and close to family is great. About the oven..you might have to plan ahead and cook a few meals at your moms and then use the microwave to heat them up while at your place. Just an idea. Good luck.

I could not live without an oven or with a small fridge. You could get a microwave that that has a convection oven as a stand alone unit. Maybe with one of the months savings you would get?

If it's in a safe area, I'd sure be tempted.

You can get a toaster oven- that's what I use in the summer b/c w/o AC, it's too hot to turn on the full sized oven. (It's hard to do rolls or cookies in & have them come out just right, but for casseroles, etc. it is great.) Plus there is always the crockpot. Does it have a stove top or do you need a hotplate?

Also, if you have a lot of space, but it is an open studio, you can divide up the area in different ways. You can get tall (6 ft. bookshelves for $40 or less- put a couple of those side by side to create a "baby's room" in the corner.

Are you month-to-month where you are at now or will you move after your lease is up?
